Cable Bahamas Group of Companies donates $250,000 to Hurricane Relief Efforts
CBL Group Chief Executives present generous donation check to Prime Minister
Cable Bahamas CEO’ Franklyn Butler, Chairman of the Board Ross McDonald , Chief Operations Officer John Gomez and Chief Aliv Officer Damien Blackburn all visited the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday January 17th, 2020, to present the nation’s chief executive with a donation toward the Government’s Hurricane Recovery efforts.
The Communications conglomerate has chosen to place its tangible support for recovery efforts from Hurricane Dorian, directly into the hands of the Bahamian Government.
The check, which was made out to the Disaster Reconstruction Authority is valued at Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars
REV CEO Franklyn Butler II said, “We are confident that by donating these funds to the National Reconstruction Authority, our dollars will be going to assist the people most deeply affected by Hurricane Dorian. In the weeks that follow a disaster like Dorian, lots of attention and money were shifted our way on a global scale but we know that as a country we are facing a long-term recovery process. For these reasons, we are pleased to be able to offer these funds at this pivotal time and remind the Government and the people of Abaco and Grand Bahama that they are still top of mind for us.”
Thousands of Bahamians relied on the Aliv network to get in touch with family and friends to ascertain their health and safety. For many callers to emergency/rescue lines the Aliv network was the difference between life and death. This resulted in one of the best performance quarters for Aliv to date in spite of losses sustained by customers during the storm. This has proven an even further incentive for the communications provider to invest in the recovery process for our brothers and sisters in Abaco and Grand Bahama.
REV COO John Gomez said, “As a corporate entity we consider it our duty to offer any assistance we can to our brothers and sisters in the Northern Bahamas and we believe it will be a substantial help to them.”
The donation was made through the Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation, an organization commissioned to function as the philanthropic arm of Cable Bahamas Limited. If you would like to learn more about Cable Bahamas Cares please visit www.cablebahamascares.org.
