REV TV Repackaging Gets the Green Light from URCA
TV Provider receives approval from governing body to restructure its entertainment offering.
Months after the initial launch of its consumer education campaign entitled ‘Imagine’, REV is preparing to introduce its new assortment of TV packages to its more than 60,000 customers throughout The Bahamas. Having received the approval from the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority to introduce new tiered and niche channel groupings to customers, REV is shifting gears toward advertising the new packages to customers and is confident that viewers will find the new offers very attractive.
Some key changes REV TV customers can expect are a shift from assorted packages to genre-based TV packages, meaning viewers can choose packages based on their specific interests. Also the television provider will be reducing paywalls between consumers and premium content by no longer requiring gateway packages to gain access to premium content like HBO.
The initial data from the public education campaign seems to bode well for the media company. Several hundred persons participated in a series of data gathering exercises including surveys, focus groups and public forums held in hopes of gathering public sentiment on the campaign. Approximately 80% of survey participants indicated that they felt the restructuring would be a positive change for their TV experience.
Mrs. Odette Russell, REV’s Senior Commercial Director said during an interview, “The REVTV Repackaging project has been approved by URCA and we are moving forward in our quest of bringing an enhanced TV experience to all our TV subscribers. No longer will REVTV subscribers have to be forced to take on gateway packages to access premium content, customers will have the freedom to select and premium or a la cart package to their basic service, allowing them to customize by preference and pocket.”
